Personal Statement

Storytelling has always been at the center of who I am and film is a way to bring my imagination to life. Through directing and screenwriting, I focus on gritty narratives that explore personal growth,  complex human emotion, and their affect on the surrounding environment. I can create entire new worlds and characters that give an opportunity to not only entertain an audience, but to connect them and give them common ground. I am most interested in portraying the emotions that are most pivotal to people's lives such as love, heartbreak, guilt, hatred/vengeance, and redemption. Characters that feel relatable have a way of helping us know we are not alone.

Growing up in a small mountain town in Colorado made me interested in creating films that feel rustic and almost weathered, as if they carry the marks and stories of the events that have happened in the past. I aim to capture a “lived-in” realism that reflects the world ordinary people experience to show their struggles without romanticizing or sanitizing them.

Ultimately, I make films because it is an artform I can use to connect people. I hope to create stories that encourage reflection on life and the choices we make.
